SilverStar Mountain Resort

  • Jan 12, 2020: “The food was AMAZING. I have a food allergy and felt confident that the serving staff took it seriously, and the cooks prepared the most delicious meal! All the staff were so lovely. Our snowcat operator Kerry was so engaging & had the best personality – everyone loved him. He clearly loves his job & went above and beyond to make sure we had a very memorable experience. We did the Sleighride dinner tour at Silverstar twice last year & have nothing but great things to say about that as well! We still talk about how amazing the ribs were!” 0

Ski runs are always in good shape, service is always good and the experience is always great! Could use a little work in the terrain park with an earlier season set up and also an alternative start to the paradise xc ski trail once the terrain park opens...the walk up past the snowbird lodge sucks...aside from that the resort is great!” 1
  • Jan 8, 2020: “This is my 2nd review of SilverStar ski resort. This Christmas holiday we spent a week staying at the Pinnacles Suites and enjoying the ski resort (our group was 13 folks from kids to old people). If you have young active kids or a large group, I highly recommend going to SilverStar ski resort in British Columbia. Also staying at the Pinnacles Suites for a large group is an A+ option. The front desk support from Oliva was amazing on this trip.(whenever we had a problem or a need she was there to fix it!). Our stay was in one of the new units and it was just right. We had an amazing view of the mountain with large windows in the front. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed including a waffle maker. The dinning room table was spacious where over 12 could sit together for meals and the family room accommodated over 12 folks for movie evenings gatherings. The kids loved the hot tub which was right outside the heated floor mud room. I loved the WiFi because I could get some work done early in the morning. The unit also had a 2 car garage that was handy. The best part of each morning was getting the ski boots on in a heated room and then putting the skis on right next to the suite to start our ski run. On the resort : Besides the skiing, included with the lift tickets we had access to the tubing park and skating/Ice hockey (although we had to rent skates) and cross country ski trails too. (The Pinnacles Suites also offers a waxing room for the skis.) The ski conditions during this Christmas was super good because they had a huge snow storm before the holidays and we had a few days of fresh snow. The new gondola is a very nice addition to the mountain. I was expecting long lines during the holiday week but there weren't -- longest wait was near lunch hour of about 10 minutes or less.I cannot write a review without mentioning "Bugaboo" Cafe ! What a nice treat at this resort. The morning fresh baked pastries and cappuccino is a wonderful decadent splurge while on holidays.!! We are from Minnesota so travelling to it was a challenge and $$ but doable if arrangements are made early. I had reasonable airline tickets through Alaska Airlines -- Minneapolis to Seattle with a long layover; then a short flight to Kelowna airport then a 1 1/2 hour shuttle bus ride to the airport arranged through the resort's website but it cost $ per person.(another option is to fly via Calgary) I recommend the round trip shuttle option vs. renting a car. Also talk to all the passengers in the shuttle if they want to stop at the grocery store before reaching the resort -- its cheaper to go to Vernon to buy food than using the option at SilverStar which has a small grocery store in the village (we had 3 families in the bus and with the passenger consensus the driver gave us 45 minutes to shop at a grocery and liquor store before reaching the resort - another option is to order food online and there are some grocery stores in Vernon that will deliver for a fee. We chose to stay a night in Kelowna to break up our trip (Delta Okanagan Hotel) but flight + shuttle bus can be done in one day from Minnesota. On this trip : I would rate the resort A+; the skiing was great during this Christmas holidays; the lift operators and all the staff from ski rental to ski patrols were nice, accessible. friendly and helpful. The lift ticket prices were reasonable especially with the multi-day stay and discount for the exchange rate. There is a good discount for kids too. The combination of the good skiing / staff at SilverStar and staying at the Pinnacles Suites, I would highly recommend this resort for a family ski vacation even though its a challenge to travel to it. Thank you.” 2
