  • Mar 6, 2020: “With incomparable views and the only Nordic site on Vancouver Island, Mt Washington offers so very much. However, the new owners/management have no experience maintaining cross country ski trails. Yes, snow conditions can sometimes be challenging, but while every other resort can deal with this, Mt Washington cannot - nor does it show any desire to do so. This place calls itself a resort and charges resort prices, yet you will absolutely not find resort quality here. Save your cash and your sanity and go elsewhere!” 0
  • Feb 16, 2020: “ Was lucky enough to be a chaperone on son’s school class to go to this highly recommended venue and was I not disappointed. The trails were magnificently groomed and very well run, especially the instructors who helped with the kids. The weather was warm and the vistas along the way were amazingly beautiful. Would definitely recommend and will be going back.” 1
  • Feb 11, 2020: “This resort is going downhill, some pun intended. There are many things going wrong: 1. Sat Feb 8th, great snow conditions but only the Hawk chair for the learners and intermediate was open. The main chairs of Eagle and Sunrise closed. Weekend crowd overwhelmed this chair and left a majority of the resort inaccessible until late in the day. An hour wait to get on the chair. Same thing Sunday the 9th. Boomerang did open at the top of Hawk but mostly for black/double black and little room at the top to maneuver.Totally unacceptable. 2. Parking on the weekend is inadequate for both Nordic and Alpine. 3. Nordic trails are not well maintained. In addition, there is no signnage to direct snow shoers away from the Nordic trails resulting in even worse Nordic conditions developing. Nordic prices here are some of the highest in Canada and no where near Silver Star in quality of experience. 4. The tube park is expensive and a ticket is only for one hour. At times they oversell a time slot so the line ups are so large people get only 2 rides in when they should be getting 5 to 6. Very frustrating when this happens. In addition, there is no imagination so there are 4 straight runs, 3 open, but no banked/curved track that would be an added thrill for those big enough and with helmuts. 5. Although this is a winter sport resort and the bread and butter revenue is skiing, they installed an expensive zip line from Eagle to Boomerang to Hawk to Alpine Lodge. Not many would take this as it is only for an older crowd, not kids and is expensive. Why would they not put this money into the core chair lifts of Eagle and Sunrise? Shows decision makers clearly out of touch with their customers. 6. There is no real groceries to be had here. Make sure you bring all the food you will require. Big White, Sun Peaks, Silver Star etc all have decent grocery stores but not here. Tips: 1. If you are looking for a ski vacation here, especially family, then only go during the week. 2. If you can, then ski during the week and leave the weekend alone. You'll get parking, few line ups and get your money's worth even if the main chairs are down. 3. Make sure you bring all the groceries you will require or it is 35 minutes to Courtenay and 35 minutes back.” 2
