In early summer you can enjoy both sunsets and sunrises from your deck. Each of the twelve cozy cottages, including the 3-unit “tri-plex,” comes with cooking and dining utensils, stove, refrigerator, microwave oven, and full bathroom. Cottages also feature TV/VCR’s with satellite television. These cottages are wonderful retreats for artists, writers, and nature lovers as well as fishermen! 152 campsites, many on the ocean and Cluxewe River estuary.

Explore the natural wonders and wildlife of the inside passage, including Vancouver Island, the Great Bear Rainforest and Haida Gwaii. These week-long safaris by water are operated by expert guides and naturalists of this award-winning, locally owned ecotourism company. They include plenty of time ashore exploring rainforest, archipelagos, fjords and wild beaches, as well as cultural sites and hot springs. Spirit of the West kayaking Adventures has been offering sea kayaking tours and trips around Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, since 1996. Our most popular tours travel to the orca waters of Johnstone Strait, British Columbia to kayak in the realm of the whales. We also offer trips to Desolation Sound, the Broughton Archipelago, Nuchatlitz Marine Park on the west coast of Vancouver Island and the Great Bear Rainforest on the Central Coast. We also offer tours to the Exuma Cays in the Bahamas and Chilean Patagonia during the North American winter.

Since 1986 we have been operating tours in the pristine waterways of Queen Charlotte Strait, Johnstone Strait (Robson Bight), and Blackfish Sound. This area is considered the best place to find Northern resident orca. Large numbers of humpback whales also congregate here during the summer months. Other marine mammals such as Biggs (transient) orca, minke whales, Pacific white-sided dolphins, Dalls porpoises, sea otters, Northern sea lions, and harbour seals are regularly sighted on tours. We take 11 people maximum and pride ourselves in offering a more personalized approach to whale watching. The small group sizes offer more intimacy with the wildlife and an opportunity to interact with the skipper. The boat has a marine toilet onboard and provides enough space that when stationary, guests are welcome to move about the boat to take photographs and enjoy the dynamic scenery and wildlife. It is a perfect whale watching platform. We offer ethical, educational, and meaningful experiences.
